Where To Find...
We’ve created this space because we’ve seen the great benefit that yoga (and other healing modalities like qigong, tai chi, meditation -- in all its forms,) can bring to a person’s life. These 'healers' have the ability to bring balance and reduce stress, bring healing on all levels, offer a greater capacity for compassion and awareness and offer physical benefits like flexibility, strength, pain reduction or simply a greater ease and comfort in one’s own body. Yoga has changed our lives in profound ways and we want to share it as we build a community to share the gratitude, joy and love through practicing together. We believe yoga and a health conscious community should be accessible to all -- regardless of physical limitations, financial limitations or any other limitation. Many people are hurting in many different ways and it takes courage to step into an unknown and vulnerable place. Our intention is to create a space that is safe and accessible to all.
Message From Jennifer:
It has been almost 2 decades since my first personal encounter with yoga. I know of many people who discovered yoga through injuries, illness or stressful times in their life, but for me it began as a journey into an unknown physical world~ and a world within that I had not yet discovered nor experienced. Having lived in a competitive world of sports (my sport was swimming), I had no idea what was missing from my life until I stepped on the mat. This strange new world of 'move this and rotate that', 'align here and relax there' and 'oh yes- breathe.'.. first it made me uncomfortable, awkward and unsure. I was not one who ever liked to take the time to 'stretch' before or after my sport, so add that to my obstacles to return to the mat. But peer pressure kept me coming back until the discomfort began to transform into an awakening within. Since those first weeks and months of yoga practice, I have moved through many seasons on my mat. I still spend much of my time challenged, raw and even uncomfortable, but I have come to understand the incredible power of yoga and meditation to transform and improve virtually every aspect of my life. The poses we practice are just the way 'in'- the way to discover who, how and what we are. I am grateful for the way I am affected EVERY time I practice.
Because of my practice:
I know what it is to be 'new'. I also know what it is to have my body make sounds I didn't invite. I know what it feels like to sit in the space of practice and feel self-conscious and vulnerable. I know what it's like to want to stop and just eat ice cream. I know what it feels like to want to be 'good at it' and discover my limitations. I also know what it's like to do things I never dreamed I could. I know what compassion and patience feel like as I learn to offer these qualities toward myself. I know love now more than ever. And I move through life's challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation in spite of my often trembling knees.
I honor the space of our practice, I honor the time that each of you invest in our practice together, I honor the vulnerability and the courage it takes to step into the space, I honor you, us and the raw human condition that we all share.
Thank you to each one of you for being a part of this community. In the awakening season of Spring, let's keep up the good work within~ it will send ripples into our lives, our relationships, our work, our community and beyond.
